Coming in at second...

My mum and I stumbled across Meadow road (an unassuming little place) when I had an almighty hangover one day. All I wanted was my bed and water (shimmy you ruin lives) but on walking in, I knew I’d instantly be cured.

meadow road 1.jpgA simple dish in here got my tastebuds going and was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. The menu - simple but tasty. They have an “egg” section where you can choose from Meadow road, Dumbarton Road, South Street and Exeter drive (all places nearby). I chose Meadow Road - poached eggs with hot smoked salmon, avocado, spinach, cream cheese and balsamic glaze. If i’m honest, the cream cheese and balsamic glaze MADE this dish. I genuinely inhaled it. *Queue girl dancing because she’s been fed*. Others include eggs with home baked ham and hot sauce, vegan scrambled egg with smoked tempeh and a simple one with avocado and spinach. You can have your pick of toast with different sides like bacon, avocado, feta, lemon and sumat. Furthermore, Granola with all the lush toppings, heart-warming porridge and AMAZING sandwiches and salads that are to die. (I recommend the Meadow road superfood salad with quinoa, puy lentil, crunchy green veg and pomegranate seeds or the halloumi, beetroot and roast pepper sandwich).

Aaaand the cake game is strong in here. I have no words to describe the amount of homemade cakes, brownies, loaf cakes etc they have. Look at those pictures- little bundles of joy! The guy makes them all himself which is impressive and most of them are gluten free.

meadow road cake table.jpgIt’s a cute, modest little place. It has a nice, warm, cosy vibe where people come in to sit on their laptops or people-watch.

Oh and it’s the cheapest place I have ever encountered. I still can’t believe most of the egg dishes are a fiver... what even?!

I urge people to try it, if not for brunch then for an amazing salted caramel brownie…. or ten.
