In third place...

This hidden gem is situated right in the heart of Shawlands but be careful cos’ if you blink too quickly, you might just miss it. The Glad Cafe is comfortably nestled amongst a row of shops and is quite easy to miss!

It attracts all the arty/indie people that have moved into shawlands in recent years and has a really nice rustic kind of vibe. It’s always very warm as well (!!)

I call this place a hidden gem because although everything about it is fantastic, a lot of people are still unaware of it though this is actually quite a nice thing. It’s reassuring to me to know that when I go for brunch in the state that I usually do, I know I won't have to worry about seeing everyone I've ever known there.

ANYWAIZ, getting down to what I’m even blogging for - the food. This place actually founded my brunch obsession which I’ll always be grateful for. The portion sizes are so generous which is just what I need to soak up all the alcohol from the night before (lol #wild). Their menu is great - they have an “eggs on breads” section and an “eggs not on breads section”. Some of the egg dishes being- eggs with avocado puree, smoked salmon, red onion and everything spices/ eggs with goats cheese, house pesto, sun dried tomatoes/ eggs with blacky ham, melted brie, roasted cauliflower and shallots and eggs with very spicy n’duja sausage, shallots and parsley. YUM. They do the standard big breakfasts too (veggie and vegan included).

“Other breakfasts (because sometimes you don’t want eggs, it’s weird, but we understand)” is such a lol of a caption on their menu - so true. These other breakfasts include mouth watering buttermilk waffles with berries or caramelized banana and cinnamon. Veggie quesadilla with sweet potato, chipotle chilies, white beans and a “distinct lack of cheese” - LOL. Lovely yoghurt/granola and maple cinnamon porridge if you want a warm-me-up on a cold winter morning. They have a huuuge variety of breads to choose from too!!

They also have a big table full of superb looking cakes/muffins/brownies etc and most of them are all gluten free too!

I really really rate this place because of the hearty food and the amazing drinks list on offer too. They do a really good flat-white which really satisfies my other blogger babes’ tastebuds (shoutout to my sista eleanor - @babble_brunch_glasgow) The other thing about this place is that it hosts concerts/art nights/ electronic & indie djs as well which are all really popular!

So take a roadtrip to the south-side and experience this place for me - it will not let you down.

Over and out,

Olivia
